How to Wash Silk Pillowcases: Care for Natural Silk

Silk pillowcases should be washed by hand or in the washing machine on a delicate cycle at a temperature of up to 30 °C. Use a liquid detergent suitable for silk, do not use bleach or fabric softener, do not wring the fabric, and dry the pillowcase naturally, protected from direct sunlight. Before washing, always check the manufacturer’s care instructions on the label.

  • read the care instructions on the label;
  • close the zipper;
  • turn the pillowcase inside out;
  • wash separately from rough fabrics and items with fastenings.

  • use cool or slightly warm water;
  • do not soak for a long time;
  • wash gently, without rubbing or wringing;
  • rinse thoroughly.

Can you wash a silk pillowcase in the washing machine

  • only if the care label allows it;
  • select the “Silk”, “Delicate” or hand wash programme;
  • use a special laundry bag;
  • set a low temperature and minimum spin, or turn it off.

  • dry naturally, laid flat;
  • avoid direct sunlight;
  • do not place on a radiator;
  • do not use a tumble dryer.
